In This Chapter:
Fonts are typefaces that appear onscreen and in printed documents. When they’re properly installed, they appear on all Font menus and in font lists.
Mac OS, which has long been a favorite operating system among design professionals who work extensively with fonts, has several tools for managing fonts and using them in documents:
• Font Book is an application that enables you to install, preview, search, activate, and deactivate fonts with an easy-to-use interface.
• The Fonts panel enables you to apply and manage fonts within documents.
• The Characters Palette makes it easy to insert special characters in your documents.
