Chapter 6. Configuring Your Mac
You know that feeling you got when you first unpacked your Mac? You know, the anticipation you felt while you carefully opened the box—the rush of pulling all the clear plastic coverings off the power supply and untying the cables, plugging your precious Mac in, hitting the Power-On button, and finally hearing that “bwong” sound as your Mac started up? Well, that same anticipation is bound to hit you after installing Mac OS X Leopard. As you explore the system, you’re certain to have lots of questions about setting things up and enabling certain checkboxes. This chapter should ease your transition and help you get your Leopard system set up just the way you want it. It presents helpful tips and tricks for configuring your Mac in a simple Q&A format. Each item starts with a simple “How do I . . . " question, followed by the steps you’ll need to take to accomplish that task. For example:
- Change the color depth of my display?
System Preferences → Displays → Display → Colors → select from 256 Colors, Thousands, or Millions.
