  • Setting up the Mac Address Book client
  • Setting up iOS devices to work with Address Book Server

Address Book Server enables users to share contacts in Lion Server. Address Book Server binds to a network directory, such as Open Directory or Active Directory, and then makes the contacts in the network directory available to users of Mac OS X and iOS handheld devices, as well as some Windows users. These users can search the global address list of the network's directory service. Address Book Server makes contacts available to several Mac applications, including Address Book, Mail, iCal, and iChat. (See Chapters 5 and 6 for more on directory services.) iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users get access to Address Book Server data through the Contacts and Mail apps.

This chapter describes everything you need to know about setting up Address Book Server.
