Abstract
In this chapter, the definition of PON and the evolution of PON standardization are briefly introduced. Since NN becomes the most popular machine learning algorithm in PON, we mainly introduce the use of NN for equalization. The effectiveness of NN is verified before regarding as an equalizer in PON. The mechanism that NN characterizes the PRBS rule is clarified and an effective method to verify training effectiveness is provided.
