The PowerBook G4
The PowerBook G4 2001 (code-named Mercury) set the entire computing world on its ear in January 2001 when Apple announced it at Macworld Expo San Francisco. The newest PowerBook was a speed demon because of its 400 or 500 MHz PowerPC 7410 (or G4) processor, and it was also a total design departure for Apple, ushering in a new generation of portable Macs.
Previous PowerBooks were solid, curvy, and functional, but they always contained compromises. Whether it was size, weight, performance, or battery life, users always found something to complain about in their PowerBooks. The PowerBook G4 threw all those complaints out the window.
