QuickDraw printers generally get all their font processing done right on your Mac. The QuickDraw printer-driver software uses the TrueType or—with the help of Adobe Type Manager (ATM) in Mac OS 9 and earlier—PostScript Type 1 scalable outline fonts stored on your hard drive, and it generates the right pattern of dots for a particular typeface at the size you want. In other words, when using a QuickDraw printer, you don't have to worry about printer font management.
