13. Networking and File Sharing
Who Should Read This Chapter:
If you have more than one computer at home, sooner or later you’ll want to send a file from one to the other. If you are in a work environment, it is probably a necessary task. This chapter looks at file sharing between computers, both over a local network and over the Internet. We’ll also look at some more advanced networking topics like File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and screen sharing.
Sending data and files between computers has always been a strangely difficult task, even for Macs. Mac OS X is a little better than most, however, with Mac-to-Mac communication being easy to set up, and even Mac-to-Windows file sharing being relatively painless.
