10. Login Items

In this chapter, we’ll discuss a special kind of user agent called a login item and the API related to them.

Login items are user agents with additional specifics. They are more restricted but have an official API to manage them. Login items always complement their parent applications.

Login Item Specifics

A login item has the following attributes:
  • Run as a specific user

  • Usually multiple instances in the system (a process for one user)

  • Part of the app

  • Bundle application

  • App Store compatible
