Chapter 8. Formatting Text
There are two kinds of text formatting in Web pages. The most basic and much less powerful method is assigning HTML tags to text, and then adjusting or enhancing the formatting by modifying those tags with attributes. HTML includes tags that define a document’s structural elements, including headings (such as H1, H2, and so on down to H6) and the Paragraph tag. With HTML tags and attributes you can also control text’s appearance, including font color, font size, boldface, italics, and underlining.
But there are limits to how much you can control the look of text using the tags available in HTML; what’s more, current principles of good Web page construction recommend separating a content’s structure from its appearance. ...
