macOS Catalina has a number of changes in store for you: Overall, it provides improved performance and stability along with some simplifications to the user interface. Books is a perfect example of the simplifications. The Books app is what, prior to macOS Mojave, was known as the iBooks app; in keeping with today’s reading trends, Books includes e-books, as well as audiobooks.

Thumbing through Books

When you first open Books, you see the Books welcome screen that invites you to Get Started. Click the Get Started button, and then sign in with your Apple ID and password (unless you’re already signed in, in which case you won’t be prompted to do this) and you’re ready to download books from Apple Books. For a refresher on how to get an Apple ID, see Book 1, Chapter 3.

Any e-books or audiobooks you previously purchased from Apple Books will be automatically shown in Books. Books that have been downloaded to your Mac are accessible from Books. ...
