Customizing templates
Besides the layout files manipulation to the positioning of elements on the page, according to the containers reference, it is also possible to implement improvements in the templates for your new theme with the techniques taught in this book.
At this point, I believe that the communication between the different elements of Magento 2 is clear and I am sure you will have many ideas for your projects using the techniques in the best possible way.
Besides the behavior customization of rendered pages via layout and your behavior via templates, it is also possible to customize the language of your store as a whole with the Translation Dictionaries.
