12 The change curve

There are many classic change models – most are useful and have been seen in organisations across the world. The model I have set out below puts change into the framework of the four parts of this book. This model focuses on four elements and why they are important throughout the change:

  • How hard making the change feels (H): I have said all along, successful change is hard, and the degree to which you personally feel this will also fluctuate greatly through the change.
  • Excitement (E): This represents the enthusiasm for your change, with you personally, your team and the group you are helping on the change journey.
