15 How it feels in the middle
The middle is such a tough place in a change that it deserves its own section. The middle has no real external factors making it an enjoyable experience. But there are specific things you can and should do in the middle to ensure success.
If we go back to the HEREn Change Model, the middle has the following characteristics:
- Excitement hits an all-time low.
- Driving through the middle of change needs intense amounts of energy.
- Risk hits an all-time high.
- It feels hard.
As I said before, it’s a tough place to be, but it is here that change is made or broken. There are specific ways to help you through the middle without burning all energy, losing your team and losing focus on the change.
