We often think about how mathematicians who invented a concept might have used 3D printing. The ability to quickly develop a 3D model of a mathematical surface with relatively cheap equipment can be transformative. As a result, our books focus on topics where 3D prints can make a real difference in understanding. 3D printers have become common in schools (although gathering dust in some) and pretty good home models are available for a few hundred dollars. In this chapter, we give some tips and resources for getting more comfortable with a 3D printer.
