9 Vacforming Basics
Make Factory-Looking Parts at Home
Vacforming is a great way to make costume parts. Just a few decades ago, it called for specialized shops equipped with expensive industrial equipment and difficult-to-find materials. Nowadays, the process is so common that most people will throw away countless vacformed things every day without giving them a second thought. Vacformed parts are used for everything from refrigerator linings and product packaging to disposable coffee cup lids and hard-shell luggage (Figure 9-1). What’s more, with just a few simple tools, you can vacform right in your own home.
