Chapter 3

Your First Day

The editor and assistant begin work on the first day of principal photography. Very exciting. Create the project windows in the editing systems. Bring some media with you to test all the equipment, and make sure the supplies and furniture have arrived. Prepare the three-ring notebooks for the editor and yourself. They will be filled with telecine reports, camera reports, sound reports, the script supervisor’s log, and lined script pages. Make additional tabs for ADR, MX, SFX, VFX, titles, stock, network formats, and spec sheets for the music and sound department. Look at the templates as a guide, and you will be on your way.
