Now that we have a plan and some activities and lessons to implement, as well as some structures to support creativity and agency, the final piece needed to teach making in an intentional way is assessment. How do we know that our students are growing and improving in the skills laid out in this book? How do we know when they are pushing themselves to try new things, take risks, and learn when their attempts fail? How can we distinguish the flashy, easy project from the ugly but deeply challenging one?
