Rehearsal
Some drama and situation comedies need extensive rehearsal time, which will begin with a ‘read through’. This is the first time all artists, production staff and heads of departments meet together to read through the script. Rehearsals then continue over several weeks in halls or rehearsal rooms with the director, production assistant, floor manager and artists. This is a good opportunity for designers to meet artists and discuss problems. On other productions, especially news bulletins, rehearsal will be a brief read through a short time before transmission.
