It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Marcel Tongs and Waving
Using Marcel tongs requires training and practice, but once mastered they do give a very strong and lasting set to the style. They are used on dry hair so are most valuable for redressing hair when the set is losing its curl.
There are different sizes of tongs, each giving a different amount of curl. The smallest tongs are mostly used for dressing facial hair, while the largest are used for waving. The tongs are heated in special heaters and it is important to judge the temperature well so that the hair is not burnt. If there is any doubt, the tongs can be tested on a piece of tissue.
Heat the tongs to the required temperature. Keep reheating them throughout the process to maintain this temperature.
