IT’S OK TO LEAVE …
Something has happened at work. You stepped away for a minute to use the bathroom, and voice mail picked up a call from someone your boss has been waiting to hear from, and when you give him the message he says, “Where were you?”—as if he doesn’t know that for the past four years you’ve been virtually chained to your desk unless you’re making arrangements for his dry cleaning or interviewing prospective nannies for his kids while his wife is at her yoga class.
Or someone has done something really unseemly and crass, but this time you can’t seem to get past it, and a little voice is whispering in your ear, “Do I really want to do this any more?”
