With over 11 million monthly subscribers, World of Warcraft is currently the world's most popular Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, or MMORPG. In fact, as of this writing, World of Warcraft holds the Guinness World Record for the most popular MMORPG of all time. Initially released in November of 2004, the game has seen several major expansions as well as dozens of updates and patches over its history to date, with each successive version bringing more players into the fold.
