When it gets hot in my dad’s hometown in the Dominican Republic, it is time to find shade or hit the beach. On this particular day, we headed to the ocean.
Though the Dominican Republic has become a popular resort destination, my dad’s hometown does not draw many tourists. Sometimes I feel that my presence alone is the tourism industry in that small town. It is especially easy to feel this way when there are so few people enjoying one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
