Transnational Teams[1]

Thus far, we have discussed teamwork via information technology as if it were strictly a burden or nuisance to be overcome. However, depending upon the goals of the company, it may be highly desirable to put together virtual teams, even when local teamwork is an alternative.

Many companies are international or multinational. A better goal might be to become a transnational company or team. A transnational team is a work group composed of multinational members whose activities span multiple countries; transnational teams have successfully transcended the cultural, geographic, and managerial barriers to team effectiveness (Snow, Snell, ...
