Intro to MeshLab

MeshLab is a free cross-platform open source program for working with 3D models. MeshLab is extremely powerful but also highly unintuitive to use. Most 3D modeling programs provide an interface for you to create your own models by combining and manipulating geometric shapes and points with the mouse. MeshLab, on the other hand, lets you process your existing geometry using complex algorithms designed to achieve particular effects, such as “ScaleDependent Laplacian Smooth,” “Mesh Aging and Chipping Simulation,” and “Crease Marking with NonFaux Edges.” As these highly technical names make clear, MeshLab makes these algorithms available directly. The program’s interface mainly consists of menus that allow you to enter in the parameters ...
