By now, you have a project charter. If your team wasn’t available to write the charter with you, conduct a walk-through of the charter in a project kickoff meeting (see Project Kickoff Meetings). Once the team is familiar with the charter, you and the team are ready to do some targeted planning and just a little scheduling.
Planning and scheduling are two different activities. Planning includes writing a project plan with release criteria. Scheduling creates the sequenced description of the work.
