Reflecting on Arts Management and Management of the Arts

As I was reflecting on this fifth edition of Management and the Arts I thought it wise to go back and look through the first edition from 1993. I was struck by how much has changed over the last 20-plus years, and yet, how little has changed. Although the structure of this book has not changed dramatically, the thinking behind each chapter has gone through a great deal of transformation. In fact, the biggest challenge I faced developing this edition was what to leave out. There is so much more to share today about managing the arts that I could have doubled the size of this book.
