John Rapaport is Chief Contracting Officer and General Counsel, Component Assembly Systems, a 54-year-old national specialty contracting firm for interiors, carpentry, and other trades. His father, Lewis Rapaport, founded the company in 1964, completing their first project at the New York World's Fair. He is active in the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Building Smart Alliance, actively pursuing standardized data for interior systems and wall types. He is a frequent contributor to ENR and author of industry papers. Joining John Rapaport in the interview were John Lord, Chief Technology Officer; David Scognamiglio, Sr. Vice President, West Coast Operations; and Jeremy Moskowitz, General Manager. Together, through on-project work such as major new corporate office campuses such as One World Trade Center and ongoing work in data reuse and prefabrication, they champion design and construction industry transformation and trade contractor involvement.
