Telling Your Story Effectively to Alleviate Marketplace Anxiety

Abstract

Five years after the last crisis, a high level of anxiety persists; the marketplace doesn't have a handle on a financial institution's ability to navigate and survive the next crisis. Stress testing and Basel III have helped shore up confidence and reduce some anxiety, but they have also highlighted areas of needed improvements. Using anecdotal ratios or making claims that can't be supported objectively does not help communicate how an institution may fare in an extreme crisis.
