Preface

“Managing for Responsibility: A Sourcebook for an Alternative Paradigm” was conceptualized by me in 2013–2014 during my tenure at HHL Graduate School of Management, Germany. This was the result of my continued interest in the field of social responsibility since 2002 when, with the support from British Council India, I had launched a three-tier initiative on “Business and Social Responsibility” to introduce and popularize CSR in management education curriculum. I had included “CSR in India” as a topic in my OB textbook co-authored with Steven McShane and Mary Ann Von Glinow (McGraw-Hill 2011, 2008, pp. 22–29) but realized its inadequacy in bringing about mindset change among management students.
