In recent decades we have witnessed an unprecedented boom of projects in organizations, as project managers and their professional associations promise to deliver efficiency and effectiveness. Fortune magazine’s 1995 prediction that project management would become the profession of the twenty-first century is coming true. According to some estimates, upper managers and their staff may soon spend more than 60 percent of their time working actively on the initiation, planning, and execution of projects (Nieto-Rodriguez, 2021).
