6Phase I: Creation

DOI: 10.4324/b22993-6

Introduction

Phase I. Creation has the highest risk of the three phases. No matter what anyone says, we all know that every individual has a real sense of accomplishment when he or she comes up with a new and original concept that has a potential of adding value to some, if not all, of the stakeholders. After going through Phase I, the organization should have a potential innovation project.

There are four Process Groupings and two Tollgates that make up Phase I.

  • Process Grouping 1. Opportunity Identification
  • Process Grouping 2. Opportunity Development
  • Tollgate I. Opportunity Analysis
  • Process Grouping 3. Value Proposition
  • Tollgate II. Concept Approval
  • Process Grouping 4. Concept Validation
