Corruption in Relation-Based Societies
Corruption in international business is a major challenge for both multi-national corporations and governments, including the multinationals’ home-country government and the government of the countries these companies invest in. After reading the previous chapters on the characteristics of the relation-based markets, the reader may have the impression that corruption may be more prevalent in relation-based societies, which, as will be shown later in this chapter, is correct. In this chapter, we will discuss how corruption is carried out in societies with different governance environments and how it affects the economy.
