The goal of leadership transition is to establish new leadership that will be effective and sustained. It is a goal that can only be measured with time, certainly not during the three- to six-month honeymoon almost always granted to new leaders. This chapter will quickly review the pathway toward good transitions, and then it will propose a set of activities aimed at sustaining and amplifying the gains made during the transition.
