The Whois Accuracy Program (WAP)

The stated goal of the Whois Accuracy Program (WAP) is to ensure the accuracy and validity of contact data supplied by Registrants in the Whois records for their domains.

However, it does not accomplish this. All that is required is that the end user assert, via some out-of-band mechanism, that the contact data they supplied previously is accurate. If this assertion is not received within 15 days of the event that triggered the process, the Registrar is bound under the terms of their ICANN Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA) to suspend the domain.

  • Transfer an existing domain between Registrants
