This case illustrates how a pilot study generated a return on investment for a coaching program targeted to new-hires. By pinpointing a turnover problem with new employees who voluntarily terminate their employment prior to their first-year anniversary, this study focuses on how the specific causes of turnover were determined, how the solution was matched to the special causes, and how a calculation of the actual impact of the turnover reduction was developed. The strength in this case lies in the success in gaining support for the ROI approach in an organization that does not see the benefit of the ROI method.
