I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
4. Getting New Programmers Started Off Right
Getting new hires Started off Right is very important. It’s a chance to demonstrate that your organization is well managed and well run and that your employees matter to you.
You have the opportunity, on your new programmers’ first days, to set the tone, introduce the culture, establish expectations, and incorporate them into the team and organization. While this is true for employees of every kind, it’s especially so for programmers, who will soon be immersed in thoughtstuff and code. You have one chance to make a first impression. Exceed their expectations! It doesn’t take that much planning to communicate that you’re excited to have them on board and have planned appropriately.
