Abstract
Planning ahead and preparing list of possible research projects, then doing some preliminary work on them, allows librarians to always have one or more research possibilities available. This chapter provides an overview of the research process, some suggestions for successful presentation, a taxonomy of publication outlets, and suggestions for preparing a research idea for publication.
