I’ve saved the Navel for the last of the six managerial types for a number of reasons: These bosses are probably the most difficult for most people to work for. They come in the most varieties. And they require a bit more managing than most to make the experience satisfying from personal and professional standpoints. In other words, Navels are the most challenging of managers to write about, and I wanted to talk about them after I had described the other types so I could compare and contrast them with the Navel.
