Flexographic Presses

This chapter portrays the basic configuration of a packaging flexographic (flexo) press, typically configured to print 8–12 colors. It discusses components such as ink drying, plate cylinders, and color register that are critical for consistent and efficient manufacturing operation. The discussion addresses older manual or mechanical methods as well as newer automatic techniques. The use and principles of operation for those components is covered. Recently developed components for newer press designs that increase productivity are discussed. The components can significantly reduce time and material waste. The ability of such designs to justify capital investment to replace presses representing older designs is presented. ...
