We introduced a discussion about the privatisation of the electricity sector globally in the first chapter and drew out some general trends. We will now look at how competition was introduced, and what the impact of the regulatory design was on competition in the specific case of the UK which was one of the first countries to engage in electricity privatisation. We will then look at specific examples in certain other countries.
