Part II: The Implementation Fundamentals

This segment provides practical insight, guidance, options, and examples related to the implementation of what we consider the four foundational disciplines of Customer MDM: (1) Data Governance, (2) Data Stewardship, (3) Data Quality Management, and (4) Data Access Management. These disciplines need to be clearly understood, put into context regarding a company's Customer MDM focus, and properly implemented in order for the MDM initiative to be successful. This section starts with the focus on data governance then progresses through the other three disciplines in a logical manner. Failed or only partially implemented MDM projects typically boil down to systemic issues and strategic flaws in the implementation of one or more of these disciplines. This section provides insight and direction needed to successfully implement the fundamentals of these disciplines.
