Schroeder Diffusers

After remarkable insight and much experimentation, Manfred R. Schroeder developed a particularly efficient type of diffuser. This quadratic residue diffuser (QRD) is a construction that uses a series of wells of different depths and constant width, separated by thin dividers. The relative depth of each well is calculated using one of several number sequences that optimize diffusion in a plane transverse to the alignment of the wells.
