Appendix CMaster Planning and Scheduling Policy, Procedure, and Flow Diagram

A company can do what it wants to do and therefore, it can choose how it wants to operate its supply chain!

This appendix provides three somewhat complete listings of the master planning and scheduling suggested policies (rules that need to be implemented), suggested procedures (what action needs to take place and how to do it), and suggested process flow diagrams (the ins and outs of process steps including decision points along the way). The listings are in alphabetic order so as not to imply that one suggestion is better than another.

It is recommended that the master planning and scheduling initiative improvement team go through each list (line by line) and discuss the merits of including the suggested element as part of their improvement implementation.

It is not the authors' intention that every line contains a must‐have requirement for a successful and effective MPS process. Choosing the ones that matter to the company and business is left for each project team to decide whether to include or not include in their implementation.
