Chapter 28. Work with Symbols and Instances
An Introduction to Symbols
In Flash, a symbol is a reusable element that you can store in the Flash library. You can repeatedly reuse a symbol throughout your movie by inserting an instance of the symbol in the frame in which you want it to appear. An instance is simply a copy of the original symbol. Drawings you create using the tools in Flash, text, and imported graphics can all be converted to a symbol.
