Manage the Status Bar
You can add elements to or remove elements from the status bar to display many different types of information. When you open a blank workbook, the status bar displays the cell mode, the macro recording state, the View shortcuts, the zoom factor, and the zoom slider. The status bar is actually set to display a wide variety of information if conditions are right to display the information. For example, if you press the Scroll Lock key on the keyboard, Excel displays the state of the Scroll Lock key on the status bar.
