In the last 10 years or so, 3D printers have gone from being large pieces of industrial equipment, to hobbyist novelties, to classroom staples. This chapter reviews the range of technologies that all fall into the broad category of 3D printing. There are many different 3D printers, but fundamentally they all create an object by building up one layer at a time on some sort of platform.
