Publishing a map service to ArcGIS Server

To publish a map service to ArcGIS Server, have the map document open in ArcMap and perform the following steps:

1. Go to File | Share As | Service....
2. If publishing a new service, select Publish a service; if the service already exists and you wish to overwrite it, select Overwrite an existing service.
3. If publishing a new service, choose a connection to publish to or create a new connection and name your service. If overwriting an existing service, choose a connection to publish to and the service to overwrite. If the current map document has been published as a service previously, ArcMap should select the target service for you, but only if the service is named the same as the source MXD.
