ArcGIS Server error monitoring and reporting

Monitoring and reporting have always been a shortcoming of ArcGIS Server; there just really isn't any sort of out-of-the-box notification system to let you know when things are not going smoothly. We discussed the ArcGIS Server logs in Chapter 4, ArcGIS Server Administration, and how they can be accessed through ArcGIS Server Manager, but that's the problem--to check the logs, you must log into the Server Manager, query the logs, and view the results.
