Model Data Tools
Navisworks allows you to import significant amounts of metadata from authoring tools; however, there are times when you may want to connect additional data sources to the model. Navisworks lets you connect these additional data sources to the model through the use of data tools. Most Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) connections are available in Navisworks.
Database connections are especially useful to clients with large existing databases. Rather than reinvent the wheel by embedding metadata into user-defined model properties where it is stagnant, you can create a dynamic link to the model through database connections.
