Tips for Budding Journalists

  • Be a one man army for your media organization.
  • You should remember the basics of Journalism and have the ability to write a story for all mediums.
  • Remember, news should have news value and it should be newsworthy.
  • It should be beneficial to a larger section of society. It should be comprehensive and proportional as well as interesting and relevant.
  • Be accurate, clear, objective and balanced while writing a story
  • Have a nose for news, establish contacts, protect sources, be sceptical and confident
  • Reporter should be able to write a good lead, find a good angle to the story.
  • Keep leads short. The first paragraph should usually be 30–35 words.
